Computing Resources

Computer facilities include a high performance computing laboratory created for graduate education and research. It consists of a compute server and storage server.

The compute server consists of rack mounted Sun Enterprise 220R dual processor servers (450MHz Ultra SparcII CPUs) with departmental clusters of workstations, which can be added incrementally and can be used individually or in parallel, as needed. The storage server is also a Sun Enterprise 220R with 218 GB of storage space.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department workstation cluster consists of ten 440 MHz Sun Ultra 10 workstations with 256 MB RAM and four 440 MHz dual processor Sun Ultra 60 workstations with 512 MB RAM and enhanced graphics capability. These workstations can be used individually or in parallel to provide raw computing power. The department also houses several Silicon Graphics workstations including a 195 MHz O2 workstation running Molecular Simulations, Inc., Cerius 2 molecular simulation software.
