Professor Sanchez specializes in mass transfer in porous media coupled with chemical reactions for environmental systems and material aging. Prior to joining Vanderbilt, she served as Assistant Professor of Energy and Environmental Engineering at the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon (France).

Education:

Ph.D. National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), Lyon (France)
(Env. Engineering - Waste Sciences & Techniques), 1996
M.S. National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), Lyon (France)
(Env. Engineering - Waste Sciences & Techniques), 1992
B.S. National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), Lyon (France)
(Energy Engineering), 1992

Research Interests:
  • Durability of nano-structured cement-based materials under various environmental conditions, mechanical stresses, and chemical attack.
  • Fate and transport of contaminants in porous materials; coupling of reactions and transport; redox processes.
  • Leaching processes of contaminant release from solid wastes during utilization or disposal scenarios, test methods, and interpretation protocols.
